How Myna Phone Numbers Work
When you activate the Phone System in Myna, a dedicated Twilio sub-account is created for your workspace. Every number you purchase is tied to that sub-account and to a Twilio Messaging Service, which handles SMS routing, compliance, and delivery. You do not need a Twilio account of your own — Myna manages the Twilio infrastructure on your behalf and bills you through your Myna credit balance.Activating the Phone System
Before you can purchase numbers or run SMS campaigns, you need to activate the Phone System for your workspace.1
Go to Phone System settings
Navigate to Settings → Phone System (or the Phone Numbers section, depending on your workspace plan).
2
Enter your business name
Provide the legal business name for your workspace. This name is used to create your Twilio sub-account.
3
Click Activate
Click Activate Phone System. Myna provisions your Twilio sub-account and messaging service in the background. This usually takes a few seconds.
Purchasing a Phone Number
1
Open Phone System
Go to Settings → Phone System and click Search for Numbers.
2
Choose a number type
Select Local for a geographic area code or Toll-Free for a number starting with 800, 833, 844, 855, 866, 877, or 888. Local numbers are best for conversational outreach; toll-free numbers are best for high-volume broadcast campaigns.
3
Search available numbers
Optionally enter an area code, zip code, or pattern (e.g.,
555) to find numbers matching your preference. Click Search.4
Select and purchase
Choose a number from the results and click Purchase. Myna charges the monthly fee from your credit balance and the number is immediately added to your workspace.
The monthly cost of each number is deducted from your Myna credit balance automatically on each renewal date. Make sure your balance stays funded to avoid the number being put on hold. You can view upcoming renewal dates in Settings → Phone System.
A2P 10DLC Compliance Registration
The US carrier ecosystem requires all business SMS senders to register under the A2P 10DLC (Application-to-Person, 10-Digit Long Code) framework. Without registration, carriers will filter or block your messages. Myna handles this registration process on your behalf. The full registration involves three steps, each of which can take time to process:1
Create a business profile
Go to Settings → Phone System → Business Profile and enter your legal business information, including business type (LLC, sole proprietorship, etc.), EIN or business registration number, website URL, and a contact authorized to represent the business. Submit for review.Twilio reviews this profile and either approves or rejects it, usually within 1–3 business days.
2
Register your brand
Once your business profile is approved, register your Brand in the Phone System settings. Myna submits your brand to TCR (The Campaign Registry) on your behalf.Brand approval typically takes 1–5 business days.
3
Register your messaging campaign
After your brand is approved, register your Messaging Campaign by providing a use-case description, sample messages, and opt-in information. Myna pre-fills much of this based on your workspace data.Campaign registration can take 2–7 business days to receive carrier approval.
A2P 10DLC registration can take up to two weeks in total from start to finish, depending on how quickly carriers process your application. Plan ahead — start registration as soon as possible, before you need to run your first campaign.
Assigning a Number to a Campaign
Each campaign must have a phone number assigned to it before it can send SMS messages.1
Open Campaign settings
Go to Campaigns, select the campaign you want to configure, and open its Settings tab.
2
Select a phone number
Find the Phone Number dropdown and select the number you want to use for this campaign. The list shows all active numbers in your workspace.
3
Save
Click Save. The campaign will now use the selected number as its sender ID for all outbound SMS messages.
Number Types
- Local numbers
- Toll-free numbers
Local numbers have a geographic area code (e.g., +1 (415) 555-0100). They tend to have higher answer rates for conversational SMS because contacts recognize the local area code. They are ideal for outreach campaigns where the personal touch matters.
